How to play Originle Unlimited

Every round you meet a stranger. They tell you about their life, one clue at a time, and you have three tries to name the country they come from. Here is a round with an example traveller who is not in the game.

  1. 01Read the first clue

Opening clues are about everyday life — a commute, a breakfast, the weather — and fit several countries. Guess now for the full 10,000 points, or reveal another clue. Each one costs a little more than the last.

  2. 02Guess, and follow the heat

A wrong guess lands on the map with its distance and the direction to the answer, coloured from cold to hot. Hot guesses also draw a ring: the answer sits somewhere on it. Your first miss also tells you the continent, and your second the region. Here Spain was warm, Belgium was hot, and the Netherlands was right.

  3. 03Get your stamp, meet the next traveller

Guess right and the country is stamped into your passport. Either way, all eight clues are shown with a short note on why they point to that country, so every round teaches you something. Then press Next traveller — there is no daily limit.

Scoring

Clues are cheap early and wrong guesses are expensive, so the game rewards reading over guessing. Revealing three clues and guessing right keeps more points than guessing twice on the first clue.

Tips to guess the country faster

  1. 1.Start with the climate

Snow, monsoon rain or Christmas in summer cuts the world in half before you know anything else.

  2. 2.Food narrows it fast

Staple grains, breakfast habits and what people drink usually point to a region.

  3. 3.Listen for language

Scripts, greetings and how many languages someone switches between are strong signals.

  4. 4.Use a wrong guess as a compass

A guess in the middle of a continent tells you more than one on its edge. Then follow the arrow.

  5. 5.Spend clues, not guesses

One more clue costs a few hundred points; a wrong guess costs thousands. Reveal before a guess you are unsure about.

  6. 6.Save the last clue

The final clue usually names a city or a landmark and costs the most. Most rounds can be won before it.

About Stampdle

Stampdle makes small games about getting to know the world through other people's stories. Every traveller you place earns a stamp, and your passport fills up as you play. Originle Unlimited is our first game.

The official Originle at originle.io introduces one guest a day, recorded on video, with an archive of past days. Once you have played today's guest there is nothing new until midnight. Originle Unlimited keeps the same idea — meet a person, hear about their life, guess their country in three tries — and gives you a fresh traveller every time you press Next traveller.

Our travellers are fictional everyday people written for this game, and their clues are text, which is what makes unlimited play possible. Each has an ordinary job — a baker, a bus driver, a nurse, a ferry captain — and eight clues that follow the same path: daily routine first, then food and weather, then language, holidays and sport, then neighbours, and finally a city or landmark.

We avoid trick questions and trivia only an expert would know. Every clue should be something a curious traveller could learn by spending a week in that country. If a clue looks wrong or unfair, tell us through the contact link at the bottom of the page and we will fix it.

Stampdle and its Originle Unlimited are fan-made and are not run by, or affiliated with, the makers of Originle. Play their daily guest too.
